Regulation 2019/1020 comes into force on 16th July 2021
Companies placing goods (products and chemicals), into the EU need to be ready for the new Regulation 2019/1020 on market surveillance and compliance of products. This Regulation comes into force on 16th July 2021 and aims to strengthen the requirements for market surveillance by the Member States; however, there are also important implications for manufacturers and suppliers.

This new Union Product Compliance Network makes it all the more important that manufacturers meet the requirements relating to economic operators and Authorised Representatives.
As the UK left the EU on 31 December 2020. Businesses based within the UK are no longer located within the EU for the purposes of CE marking and will therefore need to appoint Authorised Representatives within the EU. Similarly, companies wishing to sell goods within the UK will need to appoint UK Authorised Representatives who will have the same obligations and responsibilities as EU Authorised Representatives.
